1.2 Motive
To develop a risk based model a validation is required for the accuracy of the results.
Therefore it was decided to focus the first model on the state Tabasco in Mexico. In this state
floods occur almost every year. Also the PowerCem technology has already been used there
on a widespread basis. So in this state there is sufficient information available to validate the
model.
Although this model will be focused on a specific state, in the future it should be applicable for
world-wide use.
The study begins with a pre calculation. On the basis of this pre calculation a research proposal
is made. This research proposal has been approved by UNESCO-IHE and PowerCem
Technologies. Following this pre calculation a quick scan is made on the basis of limited
information. Finally a more detailed model is developed and validated. These results are given
in this document. The procedure is presented in figure 1.1.
