KPI 6 | Urbanisation Impact and Planning
Future population and urbanisation growth in Africa remain a concern with regard to impact on areas
of at risk, natural resource. These impacts also have negative effects on communities bordering these
environments. Establishing ways to predict future human impact (which often results in human-wildlife
conflict), and managing orderly urban growth remains a major challenge for governments, regional
authorities and local communities.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
KPI 1 | SUPPORT LOCAL ENTREPRENEURS
To help develop the local economy by sourcing all our required produce and food supplies within a
100km radius of the reserve, a radius within which all our associated communities fall.
KPI 2 | Public Private Partnerships
Modern conservation requires transparent and active community partnerships. Karingani is committed to
building capacity through various partnership programs.
KPI 3 | Encourage Sustainable Resources
To ensure that whilst promoting the local economy in the purchase food and consumable products we
discourage the use of illegally obtained commodities.
KPI 4 | Community Land Use Planning
To establish methods and strategies for best and highest use of perimeter lands in transparent partnership
with the local community.
KPI 5 | Community Agriculture
Karingani is committed to establish ways of creating alternative sustainable economies for the
local communities delivering positive impact in areas of food security.
KPI 6 | Number of New Registered SME Businesses
Through partnerships, business linkages and routes to market, Karingani is committed to making a
difference by partnering with the local communities and sharing business best practice methodologies.
KPI 7 | Employment for Women
To encourage women to join the workforce at Karingani.
KPI 8 | Downstream Positive Impact
To ensure the overall impacts of Karingani as it develops as a project, generates a positive contribution
towards the health and happiness of its staff, community partners and the landscape.
