League Review Cont…
The ten-man looked to have held firm until the 5th minute of stoppage time
when Farm were awarded a penalty that Brain duly converted.
Ace High gave Exmouth a 14th minute lead that Ethan Moran cancelled
out for visitors Evesham and share the spoils.
Merthyr Town, Hayes & Yeading United and Gosport Borough made
it two wins from the opening two matches of the Pitching In Southern
League Premier Division South season to top the fledgling table on 6 points.
The Martyrs enjoyed an excellent 5-0 win against Beaconsfield Town at
Holloways Park.
And one player in particular enjoyed it more than most – winger Frazer
Thomas – who netted hat-trick in the 27th, 52nd and 61st minutes.
The other two were both scored by Ricardo Rees on 45 and 54 minutes to
make it a nap hand.
Hayes & Yeading also hit five at the SKYex Community Stadium against
Tiverton Town.
A brace from Sam Ashton after 24 and 38 minutes was reduced by Cameron
Salmon 5 minutes into first half injury-time.
Matt Britton then put the Yellows in front with 20 minutes remaining.
But Omar Rowe 6 minutes later, Steve Ngunga in the 90th minute and
Jamie Hanlon 3 minutes into stoppage time completed a turnaround win.
Plymouth Parkway are yet to post a point as they were beaten 2-0 at
Bolitho Park by Gosport, whose Dan Wooden on 65 minutes and Harvey
Rew 2 minutes from time gave the visitors all three points.
Parkway join Winchester City, Didcot Town and Swindon
Supermarine in still searching for a first point on 2023/24.
Winchester were beaten 3-1 at home by Sholing, who are off the mark
at Step 3 level, thanks to a Dan King own goal, Dan Mason in the 16th
minute and Jake Cope on 57 minutes.
Those still in the ground saw City score a 97th minute consolation!
Didcot were beaten 5-1 at Bracknell Town, who lost their opening game.
And they had to come back from being a 49th minute Adam Smith goal
behind to win, thanks to Ashley Lodge on the hour-mark, Zidan Akers on 81
minutes and then a Cam McNeill own goal, Jordan Espirit and Nana Owsu
in the final 6 minutes or so.
Winning for the first time are Chesham United, Hanwell Town and
Walton & Hersham, who were all involved in abandoned games last
weekend.
