Introducing Yeovil Town FC Squad
21 Joe Day – Arriving on loan from Newport County at the start of September, Joe Day has
accumulated over 250 appearances in the Football League for Peterborough United, Bristol
Rovers, Cardiff City and Newport County.
23 Michael Smith – Arriving last month following a six-year spell at Hearts in Scotland,
Michael Smith brings a wealth of experience to Huish Park having played in the Football
League, Scottish Premier League, Europa Conference League and on the International stage
for Northern Ireland.
24 Charlie Cooper - The 25-year-old midfielder, Mark Cooper, has signed with Yeovil Town
until at least 2024. He boasts a National League promotion and has made over 150
appearances at that level. Cooper achieved the promotion from the National League with
Forest Green Rovers during the 2016/17 season, playing in 28 games, including the play-off
final. As a graduate of Birmingham City's academy, Cooper has also played in the Football
League for Forest Green and Newport County. In the National League, he has had spells with
York City, Boreham Wood, FC Halifax Town, Woking, Wealdstone, Oldham, and Forest Green.
28 Lewis Williams - Lewis Williams, hailing from Ilminster, joined Yeovil Town after a
successful stint at Tiverton Town, where he played 123 matches. He started his career in the
Exeter City academy and later moved on to Wells City before joining Tiverton in 2019.
29 Ollie Haste (currently on loan at Dorchester Town) – Haste made his professional
debut in the final National League game of the 2021/22 season and earned call-ups to the
England College side. Haste became the first graduate of the Elite Player Development
Programme to sign professional terms with the club and spent the majority of the 2023/24
season on loan at Truro City, with a current loan at Dorchester Town for the 2023/24 season.
30 Frank Nouble - Frank Nouble, an English footballer, has represented his country at the
under-17 and under-19 levels. Starting his career at Chelsea's youth team, he later played
for West Ham United and had loan spells at various clubs. He has also played for Coventry
City, Gillingham, Southend United, Newport County, Colchester United, Plymouth Argyle, and
Leyton Orient on loan. In March 2023, he signed a short-term contract with Torquay United
before joining Yeovil Town in July 2023.
32 Josh Staunton - Yeovil's club captain, Staunton, is known for his versatility, capable of
playing in defense and holding midfield. After recovering from a season-ending injury, he
impressed fans and was appointed vice-captain during the memorable FA Cup run. Staunton
also made history as the youngest manager to win a National League game when he led the
team to a 1-0 victory over Altrincham.
35 Benjani Jr (currently on loan at Dorchester Town) - After impressing for the
Under-18's, it was no surprise that Benjani Jr signed a professional contract with Yeovil Town
shortly after turning 18. He has been developing well and gained valuable experience on
loan at Sherborne, where he scored on his league debut. Benjani Jr is currently on loan at
Dorchester Town for the 2023/24 season.
39 Rhys Murphy - Rhys Murphy, a prolific Yeovil Town attacker, returned to Huish Park in
the summer of 2023. He is well-regarded by Glovers supporters for scoring 34 goals in 65
games during his previous two-season spell with the club. His memorable moments include
a hat-trick against Weymouth and a late goal to secure a victory against Torquay United.
Recently at Southend, he scored against Yeovil with his first touch as a substitute in April
2023.
