high as we possibly can in this league. So we will turn up on Sunday trying to gain maximum
points.
WSS: Have you been pleased with the way things have gone overall, in your
first season back at this level after promotion?
CT: We have to be pleased as our aim was to secure Tier 3 football for next season and that
is what we managed to achieve and I think we should be more than proud of that. Looking a
bit more in depth I think overall its been a very up and down season, its been a bit of a
rollercoaster. I’d say we have definitely learnt valuable lessons and that’s not entirely just on
the pitch either, we are coming up against teams with massive backings from men’s clubs etc
so for us I think off the pitch we have learnt a lot as its given us an insight of what is needed
at this level and hopefully something we can work towards in the following seasons.
WSS: Have there been any unsung players amongst the team this season,
players who don't quite get the credit that they deserve?
CT: To be honest, it sounds cliché but there is no one I would pick out, we are a team and
everyone plays their part and every player is as valuable as the next. So this is probably a bit
of a strange answer but I think the girls who have really suffered with big injuries this year,
Abby, Nic, Beth, Nat, Em Douglas, Fletch (who actually had a knee operation halfway
through the season and is back playing) who I know have all been devastated missing long
periods with it being our season in tier 3. You know the easiest part is turning up and being
able to play the sport you love, the hardest part is having to be on those sidelines not being
able to be involved but still every week they turned up supported the girls home and away.
WSS: Are you confident that the team can build on this season and establish
yourselves at this level, in the same way that Brighouse have done?
CT: I am confident we can build from this season and really cement our place in tier 3, like I
said before we have learnt valuable lessons and I know the team is excited and can’t wait
already. I truly believe that this squad can achieve some incredible things and I am looking
forward to hopefully showcasing that next season.
