The destination of the Park’s Motor Group SWPL 1 title will not be decided until the last day of
the season, with all three contenders still having a chance to be crowned as Champions.
Glasgow City will be in top spot after they won 2-1 against Partick Thistle. Lauren
Davidson gave City the lead just before half time but on the hour, Rebecca McGowan volleyed in
an equaliser for Thsitle. The game looked to be heading for a draw until Priscilla Chinchilla
grabbed a winner for City with four minutes remaining, to ensure they will stay on top of the
table.
City’s final opponents will be second placed Rangers, who will need to win if they are to
have any chance of defending their title. On Sunday, Rangers produced a superb display of
finishing when beating Hearts 6-0, Kirsty Howat hitting a hat-trick with Kirsty MacLean,
Brogan Hay and a Megan Bell penalty rounding off the scoring.
A draw or Rangers win could then let in Celtic, if they can win by the required amount
against Hearts at Celtic Park. Two first half goals earned Celtic a 2-1 victory away to Hibernian,
Katherine Loferski and Claire O’Riordan putting them two goals ahead before Nor Mustafa
netted an injury time consolation for the home side.
Spartans will finish as the highest placed team in the bottom section following their 3-2
success away to Motherwell. A Becky Galbraith hat-trick gave them the result that they
required, whilst Motherwell’s replies came from Tiree Burchill and Kayla Jardine.
Dundee Utd’s hopes of avoiding the relegation play-off were given a boost as they ran out
5-0 winners over Glasgow Women. Jade McLaren bagged a first half brace for United along
with Georgie Robb, before further goals came from Rachel Todd and Danni McGinley after the
break.
Hamilton Academical meanwhile kept themselves in with a chance of climbing out of
the bottom two, thanks to a 2-1 victory against Aberdeen. The first half was goalless but strikes
after the break from Lucy Sinclair and Eilidh Martin gave the Accies three valuable points, with
Eilidh Shore replying.
