Lauren signs Glasgow City deal
Glasgow City are delighted to announce that Lauren Davidson
has signed a two year contract extension.
Davidson, a product of the Glasgow City academy, rejoined
the club in the summer of 2020 after spells at Rangers and
Hibernian. She is the club’s second top goal scorer this season
with 22 goals including a hat-trick in the SWPL Cup Quarter
Final against Partick Thistle.
The forward has made a total of 59 appearances in all
competitions for the club.
On signing her new contract, Davidson said: “I am delighted
to sign a two-year extension with the club. The direction the club
is going in excites me and I’m looking forward to what’s to come
next!”
Head Coach Eileen Glesson commented: “I’m delighted
Lauren has chosen to extend her time with Glasgow City. Lauren
is an exciting young player who understands what it means to be
a Glasgow City player. I look forward to continued opportunity to work with Lauren and
watch her develop and reach her potential.” Photo - Tommy Hughes
Leanne takes charge of Under-16s
Leanne Ross has been appointed Head Coach of Scotland’s reintroduced Scotland Under-
16 squad.
Leanne – who won 133 caps for her country during a distinguished, trophy-laden
career – has been putting her experience to good use as an influential figure within
Scotland Head Coach Pedro Martinez Losa’s backroom staff, alongside her coaching
responsibilities with Glasgow City.
The up-and-coming touchline talent will take the next step in her development as a
coach by combining those duties with her new Under-16 responsibilities – with the return
of a squad at that age level viewed as an important step towards improving the conveyor
belt of future international players.
Fiona McIntyre, the Scottish FA’s Head of Girls’ and Women’s Football, said: “It’s
exciting to be able to announce both Leanne’s appointment and the creation of an
Under-16 squad.
“I have been fortunate enough to know Leanne for a long time. Her achievements as
a player are well known, and she’s applied the same determination, enthusiasm and
expertise to the early stages of her coaching career.
“In addition to her work with the Scotland Women’s National Team, it’s good to
know that some of our brightest prospects will be able to benefit from her experience.”
Pedro added: “I am very excited about this announcement and the addition of
Leanne as part of our Performance team, alongside Pauline MacDonald and Pauline
Hamill.
“Empowering female coaches is part of the Scottish FA’s women’s football strategy,
along with providing them with opportunities to develop as they help inspire the next
generation of girls.
