FA Women’s Championship
Durham Women have gone to the top of the FA Women’s Championship
after their 2-0 victory over Lewes. Both goals came during the first half, Ellie
Christon giving the Wildcats a sixteenth minute lead and Bridget Galloway
netting the second, shortly before half time.
Previous leaders Sheffield Utd are back in second
place after battling out a goalless draw with Crystal
Palace. Both teams went close to scoring during the
course of the game but the point was a good one for Palace,
the result also bringing a halt to United’s three-match
winning run.
Liverpool’s season is beginning to gather pace as
they claimed their third win in four matches, beating
Coventry Utd 2-0. After Coventry had been reduced to
ten players during the first half, two goals in a five minute
spell after the break from Leanne Kiernan settled matters
in Liverpool’s favour on the day.
There was late drama at Blackburn Rovers
where an injury time goal gave visitors London City
Lionesses a 2-1 victory. After a goalless first half, the Bristol City’s Satara Murray and Abbey Joice of
Lionesses took the lead through Atlanta Primus five Sunderland (Will Cheshire).
