scoring affair, 8-4 against Brentford B. Elinor

Sheffield & Hallamshire League
Division One has been reduced to just eight teams
after Sheffield Wednesday Res had to unfortunately
drop out of the League with their record expunged.
They had played nine games, winning three and
losing the other six. The revised table saw
Harworth Colliery, second, a point behind
Sheffield Utd Community Foundation before
Wednesday’s results were expunged, start the day as
leaders and five points clear. Harworth had a 100%
record from four home games beforehand, but that AFC Bentley captain Gemma Harte challenged by
record ended when visitors Dronfield Town her Rotherham Utd Res counterpart Claire Bratton
(Julian Barker).
maintained their own unbeaten away record with
Miriam Hawley levelling in the closing minutes, Grace Sanderson having opened for
Harworth. Wakefield Trinity U21 remain anchored in bottom spot, still to gain a point,
but they will surely take heart from a gutsy display which saw them record their best one
match tally of the season, but a hat-trick by Neve Renwick was not enough to deny
Handsworth, whose goals came Kim Hardman, Rachel Allsop, Kayleigh Gerriety and Sam
Hallam who netted the winner after Wakefield had negated a 3-1 interval deficit. Renwick
has an impressive tally for the season (now well into three figures when Under-18 games are
taken into account).
Kiveton Park were 2-0 winners at Socrates in the key Division Two clash between
the pair vying for what seems inevitable runners-up spot behind Handsworth
Development. Sarah Anderson and Megan Croft netted for Kiveton who moved level on
30 points with near certain champions Handsworth (but from 4 games more), while
Socrates are six points behind with three games in hand on Kiveton. Mexborough
Athletic lifted themselves off of the bottom with Yasmin Bird, Louise Harris and Megan
Jones all on target in a 3-0 victory at Wickersley Youth who failed to score for the first
time in nine home games this season, the result meaning Wickersley now occupy bottom
spot. The division’s two other games were high scoring affairs. It was 5-5 at Sheffield
Wednesday Development, for whom Molly Wilde bagged a hat-trick, with Millie Bethel
and Eleanor Vessey also on target against visitors Mosborough whose goals came from Liv
Chapman (2), Alex Ashton, Lucy Keane and Leah Kerr. Rachel Nosworthy claimed the day’s
individual honours with five as she helped Worsbrough Bridge Athletic to a 6-5 win
over Sheffield City. Beth Goldthorpe gave Worsbrough the lead and it was 1-1 at the break
before the floodgates opened in the second half. Sheffield’s goals came from Rachel Fletcher,
Rebecca Hague, Charlotte Harris, Katie Leary and Louisa McKenna.
Division Three leaders Penistone Church remain unbeaten with nine wins from
ten games as they finished 6-0 victors against bottom team Kiveton Park Development
who have yet to gain a point. Staveley Miners Welfare climbed into second place, four
points behind, thanks to a single goal win at home to Millstone. Both the top two have
played ten games, three more than Rotherham Utd Res who have a 100% record.
Both of the delayed League Cup semi finals were played and it will be Handsworth
Development against Rotherham Utd Res in the Final on Sunday 10th April. Division
Two leaders Handsworth are 100% from ten games in the league and they booked their place
in the Final with a 2-0 win over Division One side Rotherham Utd Whitehill thanks to
