A dramatic finish to the season saw Glasgow City crowned Champions once again and, maybe
their best achievement of all. Needing a win at Ibrox against Rangers, who required a victory
themselves, City held on under Rangers pressure with Lee Gibson in fine form in goal, and then
as the game went into injury time, Lauren Davidson showed great composure to slot home and
put City in front. There were a few anxious moments as Rangers sought an equaliser but City
saw it through to land the title.
Celtic did all they could in beating Hearts 2-0 in front of a record crowd at Celtic Park
but they will have to settle for second place and Champions League football for the first time.
Caitlin Hayes gave Celtic the lead just before half time and Natasha Flint scored the secondto
move their side into pole position but Glasgow City’s late goal pushed them into second.
Hibernian ended their campaign with a narrow 2-1 success away to Partick Thistle.
Liana Hinds gave Hibs a first half lead which was cancelled out ten minutes later by Cara
Henderson, but an own goal early in the second half earned Hibernian the points.
Spartans made sure of another victory and finished on top of the bottom section by a
comfortable seven point margin after they defeated Glasgow Women 2-0. Caley Gibb opened
the scoring ten minutes before half time and Kat Smart, on her final appearance for the club,
headed in the second after the break.
Three second half goals took Motherwell to a 3-0 victory over Aberdeen. After a
goalless first half, Carla Boyce opened the scoring ten minutes into the second half and after
Kaela McDonald-Nguah added the second, Lori Gardner rounded off the scoring with four
minutes remaining.
Dundee Utd played host to Hamilton Academical with the visitors needing to win in
order to avoid being in the relegation play-off. United took the lead from the penalty spot
midway through the second half, Danni McGonley scoring, and although Tara McGonigle gave
the Accies hope by equalising with ten minutes remaining, United held on for the point they
needed for safety. SWPL 1 P W D L F A Pts GD
