Ashford Utd picked up the result they needed in order to secure the Division One South
title when they defeated Eastbourne Utd 3-1. After having gone down to only their second
defeat of the season the previous week, Ashford bounced back to take the points they wanted
thanks to a Rebecca Wyatt double and Jodie Cain. Hastings Utd did all they could but will
have to settle for second place despite winning 3-2 against Herne Bay. Nicole Baitup,
Charlotte Gurr and Rubie Harris scored the goals that Hastings pip Welling Utd to runners-
up, whilst Bay's goals came from Lauren Harris and Elena Brock.
North East League
The last match of the season was played on Sunday and it saw West Allotment Celtic run
out 4-0 winners over mid-table Washington Women in the Northern Division. Hannah
Dodds and Gabrielle McConnel each netted twice as West Allotment picked up only their third
league victory in the campaign.
South West League
After coming very close to landing the league title this year, there was some consolation for
Bristol Rovers as they picked up the Premier League Cup with a 4-0 victory over Bishop's
Lydeard in the Final. Zoe Fielden-Stewart scored twice, whilst Georgia Vandries and Laura
Curnock added the other goals.
The Divisional Cup meanwhile went the way of Feniton after they defeated Paulton
Rovers 3-1. Sian Aslett, Sophie Skilton and Megan Williams were all on target to give the
Devon side victory and end Paulton's hopes of a second Cup success, despite a goal from Beth
Knight.
West Midlands League
Shrewsbury Town lifted the Premier Cup when they defeated Worcester City on a
penalty shootout after the teams had shared a 1-1 draw in the Final at Evesham. After a
goalless first half, Libby Veitch fired the Shrews ahead shortly after the restart and Olivia
Mitcham levelled the scores soon afterwards. The teams could not be separated from this point
and it was Shrewsbury goalkeeper Phoebe Carter emerged as the heroine in the resulting
shootout, saving two spot kicks as her team won 4-2 to lift their second trophy of the season.
Also picking up their second piece of silverware from the campaign were Coventry
Sphinx as they defeated Knowle 3-1 in the Division One Cup Final. Natalie Chadney, Kirsty
Farnsworth and Christabel Matewe scored the goals to round off a memorable season for
Sphinx, with Demi-Lee Rolph replying.
In the Premier Division, Lye Town will finish in fifth place following their 6-1 victory
against Redditch Utd. Sunya Salim, Caitlyn Walton and Aaliyah Hay all scored twice for Lye
whilst Molly Hicks netted a consolation for the home side. Kirsty Spencer bagged a brace for
Crusaders as she shared a 2-2 draw with Coundon Court, for whom Sophie Shale scored
both goals.
Shifnal Town have had a marvellous season in Division One North and it ended with an
eleven-goal blast against Darlaston Town, Jenna Boddison leading the scoring with a
five-goal haul along with Holly Bullock (2), Leila Hopkins (2), Amelia Higgs and Jada-Mia
Lee. AFC Telford Utd meanwhile took the runners-up spot behind Shifnal after Jessica
Sayers scored the only goal of the game in their 1-0 win at Lichfield City Res. Macy
Isherwood and an own goal gave Port Vale a 2-1 victory at Coventry City, who replied
through Georgia Furlong, whilst Maicie Golding (2), Chloe Astell, Jacqueline Corazza, Saanya
Naqib and Jasmin Springer accounted for the goals as Walsall Ladies defeated Wyrley
Ladies 6-0.
Sedgley & Gornal Utd have taken third place in Division One South after finishing off
with a 2-0 victory away to Kingfisher. Beth Male and Samantha Taylor-Whitehead scored
the goals to ensure that Sedgley will finish in the top three at the expense of Long Itchington
who, despite a goal from Humera Ashfaq, shared a 1-1 draw with Leamington Lions whose
strike came from Ava Barnes.
