Rushmoor Community Res 0 Havant & Waterlooville 5
Havant & Waterlooville took another step
towards claiming a debut season title with a
       14th consecutive Hampshire County League
Division 3 victory, scoring their 100th goal
during a 5-0 win over Rushmoor Community
       Reserves.
Other clubs have games in hand which
mean that Hawks need another win to clinch
the title but the manner and quality of their
performance suggest that the target will be
       met.
            Rushmoor played with spirit and
created some good chances but such was the
relentless attacking of the visitors it took fine
goalkeeping by Jayne Rogers and some
strong defending to keep the score down, Millie McNamara gets in a shot past Terri Parker
especially in the second half. (www.jamesprickett.co.uk).
Rushmoor had an early chance from a
Gemma Bennett corner leading to a Terri Parker header but Havant took the lead
when Isabella Downing found a yard of space to drill home a low shot from the edge
of the area on 24 minutes.
Sarah Butterworth scored the first of an excellent hat-trick on 35 minutes to
make the half time comfortable for the league leaders but they had a huge let off soon
after the restart as a Rushmoor attacker blazed a shot wide of an empty net after
       going past. keeper Jade Kibell
Skipper Chloe Dark who had an outstanding match converted a penalty on 56
minutes for the third and saw another three shots well saved by Rogers over the final
       half hour.
Butterworth was clinical as Hawks extended their lead late on. Her second was
a controlled volley on the stretch beyond the far post from a deflected cross on 78
minutes and her third was even better, a driving run and fierce shot across the keeper
on 90 minutes to cap off an impressive team performance.
A previous version of Hawks Women made a brilliant story going from County
leagues to National and F A Cup exploits over a decade ago. The current team are just
starting on their own journey with league and cup glory beckoning over the final
       weeks of the season.
