The County Leagues...
Gloucestershire League
Pucklechurch Sports hit top spot in the league for the first time this season following their
seven-goal victory over Bristol & West on Sunday. Adele Hooper led the scoring with a four-goal
haul, with the others coming from Poppy Coles, Tammi Haynes and Nerys Akers. Longlevens
meanwhile secured their first league win of the season, 2-1 away to fourth placed Bishop's Cleeve.
Jessica Stirling did give Cleeve an early lead but in the second half, Lauren Mills and Lucy Skelding
scored to turn the game around and break Longlevens' duck.
Dursley Town remain on top of Division Two after winning 4-1 at City of Gloucester.
Lucy Jones scored all four goals for Town, whilst the hosts' consolation came from Beth Tovey. Dursley
continue to head the table on goal difference from Tuffley Rovers who beat Red Falcon Club 2-0,
courtesy of a Holly Kay double. Cheltenham Civil Service are still improving and dealt a blow to
Bristol Rovers Development's title hopes by defeating them 3-1. Gemma Riley netted twice and
Jessica Brown the other, with Gift Ihejieto replying.
Division Three leaders Bradley Stoke did not play on Sunday and their advantage has been
halved to three points by Whitchurch & Bristol, who won 3-0 against Olveston Utd Res with
goals from Hannah O'Loughlin (2) and Harriette Gammon. Bristol Ladies Union Development
follow on in third, goals from Eve Saunders, Polly Garton, Mara Wuelfing and Lucy Groves giving
them a 4-2 victory over Kingswood Women, who replied through Paige Todd and Sian Towler.
Southmead Community Sport meanwhile won 2-1 against Stoke Lane Athletic, a result which
takes them into fifth place.
Greater London League
Islington Borough have opened up a lead of five points in the Premier Division, following their 4-2
victory away to Comets. Ornella Mbula scored twice along with Rachel Anderson and Zoe Smythe,
with Rachel Soares and Kirsten Walker replying. Bromley FC Ladies stepped up their challenge by
winning 2-0 at Headstone Manor. Jade Davenport and Millie Main were both on target to take
them into second place.
There was a change in leadership in Division One North, where Queen's Park Rangers Res
have taken over at the top after beating Luton Town Res 4-1. Jessica Francis-Weir, Zoe Staniford,
Harriet Stiles-Winfield and Kyra Fleary all scored a goal apiece for Rangers, with Sapphire Rohan
replying. Hackney meanwhile picked up their second league win of the season, 3-2 against Tower
Hamlets thanks to Debora Cagnin, Megan Kapadia and Katharine Pearson.
Division One South table toppers Richmond & Kew won 5-1 against Sporting Duet,
Maddie Andrew scoring twice along with Jade Briant and Hannah Curwen plus an own goal. Balham
Panthers meanwhile edged out South London Women by the odd goal in seven. Katie Butts,
Paula Holguin Milla, Alice Poole and Jemma King all grabbed a goal apiece for Balham, with Rachel
Burden, Elyse Stokley and Virginia Somers replying.
One match was played in the John Greenacre Memorial Trophy on Sunday, Olivia Corbett and
Olivia Anton scoring respectively as Ridgeway Rovers and UCL Academicals battled out a 1-1
draw, before Academicals triumphed in the resulting penalty shootout.
Sheffield & Hallamshire League
Harworth Colliery climbed two places to second spot in Division One as they displaced visitors
Sheffield Utd Community Foundation, who had started the day in that position. Sophie
Thompson and Grace Sanderson netted for Harworth who are now just a point behind leaders
Dronfield Town, but with a game in hand. Meanwhile at the opposite end of the table, there was
long awaited joy for newcomers Wakefield Trinity U21s who registered their first points of the
season with a scoreline no-one would surely have dared to predict beforehand. For, Wakefield finished
10-4 home winners over Sheffield Wednesday Res and in doing so, doubled their goals for tally
from their eight league matches beforehand as well as edging past the nine goals in a game Dronfield
had recorded in their last two games for the division’s highest of the season so far. Leading the way
was Neve Renwick, previously at Wednesday, with eight goals, so taking her tally for the season in
Under-18 and Open Age games to a staggering 99 goals. Charlotte Thomas and Aimee Wilde were the
other Wakefield scorers.
There was just one other League game played, in Division Two where Socrates won 3-1 at
Mexborough Athletic to move into second spot where they are six points behind 100% leaders
