It has been an incredible few days in the Park’s Motor Group SWPL 1 and the title race has been blow
wide open. Just days after suffering their first defeat, Glasgow City were beaten again in midweek,
this time going down 2-1 to Rangers. Rachel McLauchlan gave Rangers the lead midway through the
first half and after Jenna Clark had looked to have salvaged a point for City late on, Kirsty Howat
grabbed a winner in injury time.
Celtic meanwhile built on their win against City on Sunday by beating Hearts 6-0, which
leaves them two points behind City and Rangers a further point adrift in third. Jacynta
Galabadaarachchi, Chloe Craig and Natasha Flint put the Hoops three ahead at half time, before Amy
Gallacher netted a second half brace and Katherine Loferski completed the scoring.
Hibernian defeated Partick Thistle 3-1 in
the other top half game, which sees them narrow the
gap on Hearts to eight points. Katie Lockwood was
on target twice for Hibs and Brooke Nunn added the
other, after Cara Henderson had given Thistle a first
half lead.
Motherwell have a lead of five point in the
bottom section after their 4-0 victory over Glasgow
Women. Jemma Hughes gave them a seventh
minute lead with Chelsie Watson and Niamh Noble
adding further goals ahead of half time, before
Hughes netted her second with eighteen minutes
remaining.
The other midweek game turned out to be a
seven-goal thriller as Aberdeen edged out
Dundee Utd 4-3. Bayley Hutchison and Millie Jenna Clark (12) scores with a header for Glasgow City
Urquhart put the Dons two ahead inside the opening against Rangers (SWPL/Colin Poultney).
