Wem Town were pushed all the way by Coventry
Sphinx before securing their First Round place with a 4-3
victory. Taylor Davis, Jess Jennings, Lia Lewis and Laura
Morris all netted a goal apiece for Wem.
Wem will be at home again in the next round, to
Boldmere St Michaels who also needed to safely negotiate
a tricky tie away to Redditch Utd with a 2-1 win, thanks to a
brace of goals from Annie Highway.
Just one of the ties on the day went all the way to
penalties, at Harlow Town where the home side eliminated
Royston Town on a shootout after the sides had fought out
a 3-3 draw. Fran Gamble scored twice and Georgia Box the
other for Harlow whilst Royston, who were 3-1 down at one
stage, netted through Yasmin Pratt, Emma Slater and Paige Cheltenham Town’s Lauren Kayll battles with
Rolfe. Harlow were eventually to win 4-2 from the spot, Alanna Torrington of Portishead Town
Kaydee King slotting home the winning penalty. (Will Cheshire).
Royston have landed a plum draw at home to
Ipswich Town, who made it through by winning 3-1 away to Norwich City in the 'Old Farm' derby
courtesy of a goal apiece from Eloise King, Paige Peake and Sophie Peskett.
Billericay Town narrowly got the better of Chesham Utd, beating them 2-1 in a tie
which turned out as close as anticipated. Lucy Jones and Therese Addison scored the goals for
Billericay, after Riva Casley had given the Clarets a first half lead.
Billericay will be at home again in the next round to another team from Division One South
West, this time Maidenhead Utd after they came away from Fulham with a 2-1 victory. Natalie
Barnes and Nicole Barrett - with a superb long range strike - put Maidenhead two ahead at the break
and they held out for a win despite Fulham pulling one back during the second half through Gemma
Taylor.
Actonians Ladies put an end to the Cup run of Worthing FC Women, the FAWNL
side proving too strong on the day with a 4-0 victory. Meila D'Santos and Alessandra Barreca gave
Actonians a two-goal lead at the interval and they went on to add further goals from Minori Ono and
Ashleigh Ward. Actonians must wait and see who they will play in the First Round as they have been
drawn away to either Eastbourne Town or Leyton Orient.
AEK Boco hit the headlines in the last round with their win against Larkhall Athletic
but they bowed out on Sunday, beaten 7-0 by Exeter City. Emily Toogood led the scoring for the
Devon side with a hat-trick and she was joined on the scoresheet by Esme Kilburn-Thompson, Mia
Preston, Anthea Kaptein and Steph Beck.
Exeter will now be at home to Cheltenham Town who ended the resistance of
Portishead Town with a 3-1 victory. Cheltenham did receive an early scare as Emma Lindsay gave
Portishead a third minute lead but they hit back to level the scores through Charlotte Criddle. Jade
Grove then put the Gloucestershire side ahead on the hour and Criddle sealed the win with her
second, seven minutes from time.
