THOUGHTS FROM
THE DUGOUT
Good evening all and welcome back to The South West Interiors Stadium for our home
Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South match with the early league leaders
Tiverton Town. First of all may I extend a warm welcome to Martyn & Scott Rogers, Colin
Nation, the Tiverton staff, players, supporters and officials who I wish a safe commute for
this Tuesday evening fixture.
If we are a completely new group with a new Director of Football, Manager, staff, kit men
and players then Tiverton represents the total opposite. Under such a long serving and
successful management structure Tiverton are a well established team that is continuing to
evolve over time and has got off to a flying start this season. At this point it would be wrong
not to mention the admiration that we have for the unbelievable job that Martyn Rogers has
done at Tiverton with such a level of success, commitment and
loyalty to one club for such a long period of time. Now joined by
Scott in a joint position there is no doubt that Tiverton will be
up and around the top of the table come the end of the season
and this will be our biggest test so far. Not only are they 9
points from a possible 9 they have also played some of the
most fancied teams in the division and beaten them.
Therefore we get a flavour of the test ahead of us this
evening. Tiverton have scored plenty of goals already this
season and we will have to be at our very best to contain them
and give ourselves a chance in this one so we ask the
supporters to come out and get behind the team in
the same way you have for the first few games
to inspire us tonight.
I was delighted with our clean sheet at
Farnborough last week, we have only
conceded 2 goals in our opening 3 league
games and that has to be the foundation for
a successful season. That defensive ability
will be put to the test tonight but I know the
boys will relish the challenge. We weren't
quite at our best on the long Wednesday
evening journey to Farnborough but we still
created a number of opportunities where we
couldn't apply the finish or final ball but
nevertheless I think if you had offered anyone
at the club 2 points on the road a win at home
in the opening 3 games we would've taken it, a
solid foundation to build on.
So get behind us again tonight and let's see if we
can cause another upset and continue the good
start to the league season, let's go!
Paul
