great for us, we have previously had some very impressive runs bringing in fans and
giving the players and coaches a chance to test themselves against teams from the top
divisions.
WSS: Your next scheduled league game in the new year is against Chester-le-
Street again and then a run of home games, do you see this as a chance to kick
on in the title race?
ED: Come the New Year we hope we will be able to crack on without any more disruptions,
Covid and weather wise. We will work hard during the Christmas break and be ready to
kick on straight away. Every game is important but we don't look too far into the future in
terms of the title race.
WSS: You have come close to promotion so many times in recent seasons,
what would it mean to the club if you can go up this time around?
ED: Promotion would mean so much to the club. For the fans, players and coaches that
have stuck with it especially. We are good enough to play in the division above and the
players are keen to show what they can do in there.
Our thanks to Emma!
Everton defeated Manchester Utd 1-0 in the final group match of the FA Women’s
Continental Tyres League Cup, but it was not quite enough to take them through to the
quarter finals.
Willie Kirk’s side had been hoping to take one of the two runners-up spots as
Manchester City had already been confirmed as group winners, whilst United were unable to
progress.
The only goal of the game came with fifteen minutes remaining, Hayley Raso
bursting down the left and crossing for Lucy Graham to score.
Durham Women and Crystal Palace therefore take the two best runners-up positions
and will be in the draw for the quarter finals, which takes place on Saturday afternoon.
