Penwortham Town are up into second place after winning 2-1 against Penrith AFC.
In Division One South, Salford City Lionesses ran out 4-0 winners over West
Kirby to move hemselves to within two points of leaders Chester FC Women. In the
other game, Warrington Wolves and Northwich Vixens battled out a 2-2 draw, a
result which takes Northwich into third place.
Southern Region League
Abingdon Utd have taken over as the new leaders of the Premier Division following
their 1-0 victory away to Winchester City Flyers. Rosie McCabe scored the only goal of
the game for Abingdon, six minutes from time. Dominique Carrington and Darcey Young
netted the goals for Ascot Utd as they climbed up to third with a 2-1 win at Newbury
Ladies, who replied through Leanne Saunders.
Southampton Women Res returned to action with a 9-1 victory over Tilehurst
Panthers and have gone two points clear at the top of Division One. Fay Roberts led the
scoring with a hat-trick and Emily Wernham weighed in with a brace, whilst Sophie Lee,
Kellie Warren, Jasmine Hughes and Siena Millen added a goal apiece, with Courtney
Hughes-Boyne netting the home side's consolation. Eastleigh have moved up in second
place after scoring seven times without reply past Abbey Rangers, led by a hat-trick
from Catherine Browning. Samantha Hide netted twice and they were joined on the
scoresheet by Emma Simpson and Leah Shave. Sarah Plummer was on target for third
placed Bournemouth Sports as they shared a 1-1 draw with New Milton Town,
whose reply came from Isabella Baskett.
Only one match managed to go ahead over the weekend in Wales, the Premier League
Cup clash between Aberystwyth Town and Briton Ferry Llansawel with all of the
other three matches being postponed.
