Sheffield & Hallamshire League
Last Sunday saw the Second Round of the three group fixtures before the Cup and Plate
competitions enter the knockout stages, with the third and final round scheduled for this
coming Sunday.
Kelsey Hallam and Abi Shepherd were the respective scorers as Mosborough
drew 1-1 at home to Rotherham Utd Whitehill in Group One of the Cup. The game
between Wakefield Trinity Development and Sheffield Wednesday
Development was abandoned after adverse weather caused the pitch to be deemed
unfit. Wakefield ran out 5-1 winners when the teams fulfilled the fixture in midweek.
Evie Flint, Maggie Simpson and Liv Winstanley were the Handsworth Development
scorers in their 3-1 victory over Mexborough Athletic, whose reply came from Laura
Ferguson, in Group Two where the other game ended 2-1 in favour of Oughtibridge
WMSC Res against Socrates. Ayesha Khan and an own goal were enough for
Oughtibridge with Valentina Basso netting for Socrates. Barnsley FC Ladies recorded
a 4-2 win over Dronfield Town, for whom Annabel Davies and Eleanor Rose were on
target, in Group Three which has just three teams, the same as Group Four where
Sheffield Wednesday Res won 3-1 away to Wickersley Youth thanks to goals from
Michaela Holmes, Aislinn O’Gorman and Abbie South.
Charlotte Smith bagged a hat-trick with Lauren Emmerson, Eva Shufflebottom
and Mollie Wordsworth also on target as Dronfield Town Development triumphed
6-1 at Kiveton Park Development in Group One of the Plate. The group’s other game
ended 1-1 with Lucy Tindle equalising for Worsbrough Bridge Athletic at home to
Sheffield Utd Community Foundation, who had enjoyed an interval advantage via
Sarah Marshall. There were two high scoring games in Group Two with Sheffield Utd
Community Foundation Res winning 16-0 away to Millstone and Handsworth,
with singles from Kayleigh Gerriety, Sam Hallam, Molly Johnson, Abbey Kirwin and
Becky Walstow, recording a 5-1 victory against Penistone Church whose consolation
came from Alice Norman. As with the Cup, Groups Three and Four feature just three
teams. Mikayla Harper was a hat-trick scorer, with Zoe Parker netting the other goal for
Kiveton Park in a 4-1 win over Staveley Miners Welfare for whom Anya Taylor
netted in Group 3. There were hat-tricks for both Hayley Hirst and Becky Wright as
Swallownest Swallows ran out 9-0 winners over Eckington Belles, the other
strikes coming from Tia Stancill (2) and Stephanie Thompson.
Sussex League
In the only match to be played in the Premier Division, Chichester City replaced
Pagham in third place after winning their meeting 6-1.
In Division One, newly crowned Champions Worthing Town kept their
winning run going as they won 7-1 away to Newhaven Ladies Development. Dulcie
Elder was on target five times for Worthing, with Jazmyn Brock-Matthews and Alice
Martin adding further goals. Rustington Raiders meanwhile defeated
Woodingdean Wanderers 12-1 to move themselves up to third. Katie Delillis led the
