KEYNSHAM TOWN LADIES 3
Manager’s Notes
Last weekend we were denied home advantage by a combination of
pressure from other sources. In addition a rash refereeing decision to
sin bin Justine for 10 minutes, handed the opposition the opportunity
to score, which they gratefully took.
Enough said of the difficulties that we faced in the run up to that
fixture.
Looking forward to our remaining matches, we have eleven in total,
plus a potential twelfth.
One is a Somerset County Senior cup semi final next week at
Middlezoy, which could lead to a final, if we are successful. The other
ten are all League fixtures and I have been studying these carefully
during the past week. Only three are at home and seven are away
trips, including long journeys to Gillingham and Crawley. At first sight,
that does not look good, when you are in a battle to maintain Premier
status. Nevertheless, I have split them into two categories. The first
being tough fixtures of which I see five and secondly, the remaining five games, where I genuinely
think that we have a real chance of running out onto the pitch with the prospect of coming away
with something from the match.
The five tough ones are today, Plymouth (h); Crawley (a), Portsmouth (a), Yeovil (a) and Watford
(h). That is not to say we will not be going out to earn points from these, just as we did at Oxford.
The second group, where we have a much better chance, are Gillingham (h & a), Hounslow (h),
Chichester (a) and MK Dons (a).
You only have to look at these final five, so see that we need to aim to pick up some points away
from home. Indeed, it will not be for nearly six weeks that home supporters will see us agin at the
AJN, when we entertain Hounslow, perhaps the most important of that series.
Overall, I believe that another seven points will see us to safety and with that in mind, we need to
keep everyone fit and competing for places to achieve that objective. Currently, we have two
players with long term injuries, Ellison Roberts, who has been out since the start of the season and
Fabiana Alborghetti, who has her second visit to the fracture clinic in another three weeks.
Already, we are planning for next season and have invited a trialist to Keynsham for training during
the first week in April.
Today’s other matches see The Development club, playing
here earlier at 12 noon against Ilminster and the Reserves
travelling to Portishead. Both are League games.
Next week, as indicated, we make the trip to Middlezoy, which
must rank as one of the most isolated and strange locations
for a football match. Maybe we shall see a few hang gliders to
brighten up this desolate ex-aerodrome location.
