KEYNSHAM TOWN LADIES 4
Secretary’s Notes
Today we welcome Plymouth Argyle Ladies to the AJN Stadium and we thank
Ilminster Town Ladies for kindly agreeing to play Keynsham Town
Development Ladies at 12 noon instead of 2pm so that both games could take
place here today.
This is the first home game since rejoining us for Kerry Bartlett, and I am sure
all our supporters join me in saying “Welcome back Barts!”
Last Sunday was problematical as we had to find a pitch and referees for our
game against Cardiff. Originally this was scheduled as a midweek game but
Cardiff wrote asking if we could change dates as they had players on
educational trips. When we were unable to respond this suddenly turned in to
a Welsh international call up! The league then insisted we play this game at
home last Sunday although out pitch was not available to us. We were told to
find another pitch with very short notice. All 3G pitches were already booked
as were grass pitches that were not waterlogged. We ended up being
approved to play on the FIFA approved 3G pitch at Writhlington School,
although it did not meet ground grading with no dug outs, no technical areas
and no stand or shelter for spectators (I did not go!!) I am told the hot
chocolate in the cafe was very good. So sorry to those who were unable to
come. We did not produce a programme so you haven’t missed it.
The pitch at Writhlington although supposedly FIFA approved turned out to
be very poor quality especially when compared with ours and it set me to
wondering whether school pitches that have been awarded this grading, when
first constructed, ever get re-tested to see if they still meet the standard? Ours
is tested every year to make sure it is still in good order. Without this leagues
would not permit teams to play on it particularly those at a higher level.
Next week we are in county cup action against Middlezoy Rovers Ladies but
our Reserves are home to Purnell Sports with a 2pm kick off if you would like
to come and watch. Entry is free.
Now a long break before our next home game on 22nd March against
Hounslow which could be a make or break game.
