KEYNSHAM TOWN LADIES 9
the live-wired Lydeard left winger, but the deflected ball
       - (which could have gone anywhere) – hit the Lydeard
striker and landed at her feet to fire in! – Lucky Lydeard!
Tilly B and Yasmin P both joined the action, replacing
Poppy L and Ellie-May H – as Keynsham looked to keep
       things fresh.
Zoe R almost bundled through, following a great
searching pass by Naomi N – before Keynsham retook
the lead on 41 minutes, Olivia B played the ball forward
and the Lydeard defender got her feet in a mess, Zoe R
raced through to slide beyond the Lydeard keeper.
A frantic game – as they always are between the sides
       – came to a halt with Keynsham on the front foot and
with a narrow lead. (Photos by Women’s Soccer Scene)..

Unsurprisingly, Lydeard came out of the blocks fast for the second half – Xanna K made a comfortable
save from a header from a corner, and Keynsham weathered the early storm and started to settle down
       again.
Elena F almost sent Yasmin P clear, before a big Xanna K goal-kick was misjudged by the Lydeard
defence, Yasmin P flicked the ball on and Zoe R looked to be clear, but stood on the ball, under extreme
pressure from the away defence – as Lady Luck seemed to favour Lydeard once more.
Keynsham were asking the questions, panic in the Lydeard defence saw Zoe R’s shot blocked from close
range, before Yasmin P did brilliantly well to drive between two defenders and bring out a good save by
       the Lydeard keeper.
However, in a flash the game changed! – Keynsham had defended brilliantly all afternoon – but in the 62
minute, Lydeard drew level – when a player lost her balance and took a heavy fall in the box – the referee
clearly waved no penalty, play on – except Keynsham showed in-experience and naivety in checking on
the player instead of focusing on the game – Lydeard played on and the ball fell nicely for their winger to
fire into the corner giving Xanna K no chance.
Still reeling, Keynsham lost their composition and concentration, and Lydeard scored again within 2
minutes to take the lead. A good run forward by the Lydeard player, saw her nip through and shank a
scruffy finish into the bottom corner. As the old saying goes, they all count!
Keynsham needed to settle. Zoe R fired narrowly over the bar after good build up play by Poppy L and
       Tilly B.
Evie G playing through the pain barrier, started to demonstrate some fabulous range of passes – sending
Ellie-May H forging down the right wing – but that one moment of quality just kept alluding Keynsham
and at times they were perhaps guilty of making the wrong decision or trying to force the play too much.
Keynsham continued to pour forward, Lydeard relied on the counter.
As the game entered the latter stages, a brief passage of play – saw Lydeard desperately hanging on with
last ditch defending and a headed off the line clearance to deny Ellie-May H.
At the other end, Xanna K made a great diving save to keep out a good effort from distance.
Zoe R drove narrowly wide, after Lydeard had seemingly fouled her and Yasmin P several times in the
build up to the chance – nothing doing from the referee!
The final chance came, when Evie G sent Ellie-May H racing down the right again, her cross just clipped
off of Yasmin P’s head with Zoe R lurking just behind – it was agonising!
Lydeard kept the ball well in the last few moments to run down the clock and see out the contest.
