League Cup
There will be a new name on the trophy this season
following Sunday's semi finals and a good Final is in
prospect with both of the top two divisions being
       represented.
Nottingham Forest have reached the Final before and got there again in style with
a 5-0 victory over Portsmouth in the clash between the leaders of the Northern and
Southern Premier Divisions. Lyndsey Harkin gave Forest the lead shortly ahead of half time
and after the break, Rebecca Anderson netted a double before Charlotte Greengrass and Mai
Moncaster crowned a great result for their side with further goals.
Forest's opponents will be Watford who had a good result themselves, beating
Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0. Both goals came during the first half, Andria Georgiou
putting Watford in front and Faye Brough adding the second just ahead of the interval.
       Northern Premier Division
The top two at the start of the day were both involved in the semi finals of the League Cup
and this gave Burnley FC Women an opportunity to move up to second, which they
accepted with a 5-1 victory over Boldmere St Michaels. After an own goal had given
Burnley the lead, Laura Elford made it two before the Mikes pulled one back through Jessica
Keeling. Dominique Cooper restored the two-goal advantage after the break and after Elford
netted her second, Millie Ravening rounded off the scoring with the final goal.
Derby County meanwhile kept their outside chances alive by beating Huddersfield
Town 2-1. Leading scorer Amy Sims gave the Ewes a first half lead which was cancelled out
after the interval by Autumn Housley, but Derby were to have the final say and Camille
Jenkins netted the winning goal in injury time.
Stoke City lifted themselves into the top half of the table, thanks to a 3-0 win against
Loughborough Lightning. Roisin Kivel opened the scoring during the first half and Stoke
went on to secure the result with late goals from Nuala Miszkiel and Hollie Gibson.
Liverpool Feds increased the gap between themselves and the bottom two when they
defeated West Bromwich Albion 2-1. Ellie Fletcher and Katie Thomas scored the goals as
the Feds avenged their defeat to Albion seven days earlier, whilst Delphi Cole netted a
       consolation.
       Southern Premier Division
With Portsmouth on League Cup duty, Oxford Utd took the opportunity to regain the
leadership of the division with a 6-1 victory over Crawley Wasps. Carly Johns and Daisy
McLachlan each hit a hat-trick for the U's, whilst Amelia Ajao netted in reply.
Ipswich Town meanwhile defeated Plymouth Argyle 3-0, a result which has taken
them into second place. Anna Grey was on target twice for the Tractor Girls, with Freya
       Godfrey adding the other.
Billericay Town hold on to fifth place in the table after a 2-1 win away to
Bridgwater Utd. Jessica King and Morgan Rogers scored the goals for Billericay, whilst
Bridgwater's consolation came from Megan Jarvis.
Milton Keynes Dons have moved back into the top half on the back of a 2-0 success
at London Bees, who remain just above the bottom two. Recent signing Zoe Barratt netted
her first goal for the Dons and she was joined on the scoresheet by Angelina Nixon.
Gillingham emerged as 2-1 winners from their meeting with Cheltenham Town
and leapfrog them in the table as a result. Ellie Jeffkins and Phoebe Leitch, were on target for
Gillingham, whilst Cheltenham's reply came via an Emily Owen penalty.
