Newcastle Town are preparing to take on Port Vale in the First Round Qualifying of the
Vitality Women’s FA Cup this Sunday, and the Staffordshire County Women’s League side
are looking forward to the occasion.
As with all of the ties that had been scheduled for last Sunday, the match was postponed
as a mark of respect for HM Queen Elizabeth II, but the tie has attracted a lot of interest
locally and more than 500 tickets have been sold for the meeting at the Red Industries
       Stadium.
“We are very much looking forward to what will be an exciting game against Port Vale
Women, a side a tier above ourselves, that will entertain the over 500 spectators in
attendance and will help both clubs cement their place in the community for women’s
football,” Head of Women’s Football, Micky Beamon told Women’s Soccer Scene.
“It’s a shame that only eleven players can start the game because in reality, every player
in the squad has trained and prepared superbly however we are one squad, one unit and they
will push each other till the end.
“A tough fixture is ahead of us but the players and coaches have worked very hard since
pre-season started in June, scoring 39 goals in 9 games so far including fixtures against Stoke
       City and Nottingham Forest.
“This is a big day for the squad and they know that we can achieve great things together
       as a team.”
Midfielder and joint captain Katie Greenwood added: “The FA Cup is a massive
competition for any club but it’s even bigger for us as a new team. I can’t wait to walk out onto
that pitch with this group of girls representing Newcastle Town.
“We have all been working hard on and off the pitch to be ready for this opportunity and
we are going to do our best to take it against Port Vale. The chemistry between the squad at
training is so good every session and it’s starting to show on match days.”
“Being able to represent Newcastle Town Women in the FA Cup is going to be
sensational,” said striker and joint captain Marni Williams. “Walking onto the pitch together
not only as a team, but as a big family will be a proud day for us all. The coaches Micky, Dave,
James and Mike have a great attention to detail and have pushed us all through pre-season
to get us where we are and are all determined to get the club up the leagues.”

Ripon City will be going all out to make an impression in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup this
week when they travel north to take on Darlington FC Women.
Ripon got their season off to a good start with a confident 4-1 victory over Harworth
Colliery and a good game is in prospect with both teams having won their opening games of
       the season.
