Japanese international Mana Iwabuchi has signed for Arsenal. The 28-year-old started her career
at Nippon TV Beleza and has since gone on to play for Hoffenheim, Bayern Munich, INAC Kobe
Leonessa and more recently, Aston Villa.
The Japanese international has featured 74 times and scored 31 goals for her national side
since making her debut at just 16 years of age.
The skilful forward joins Arsenal having won the Nadeshiko League three times,
Nadeshiko League Cup three times, Empress’s Cup twice, 2. Frauen-Bundesliga once and Frauen-
Bundesliga twice. For her national team, Mana has won the EAFF Women’s Football
Championship twice, FIFA Women’s World Cup, Asian Games and AFC Women’s Asian Cup.
Mana also won a silver medal with her national team at the London 2012 Olympics.
“I’m so happy to finally be able to announce that I am an Arsenal player!” Iwabuchi told
www.arsenal.com. “I know the club has wanted to sign me for a long time now, so it’s a great
honour to be able to play for Arsenal. There are so many amazing players and I can’t wait to get
started.”
Sheffield United are delighted to announce the signing of defender
Sophie Bradley-Auckland.
The 31-year-old joins the club after a spell at Liverpool,
returning to the game after taking a year out during the COVID-19
pandemic.
The former England international represented her country at
the 2011 World Cup and was selected for the Team GB squad at the
London 2012 Olympics.
One of the most experienced defenders in the game, Bradley-
Auckland has previously represented Leeds United and was part of
the Lincoln City side at the start of the FA Women’s Super League
era.
The centre back was capped 28 times for her country and enjoyed success in the second
tier more recently when she was part of Neil Redfearn’s title-winning Doncaster Rovers Belles
side in 2018.
Speaking about her decision to return to the game and join the Blades ahead of the new
season, Bradley-Auckland said: “I’m really excited. As soon as I spoke to Redders and he
mentioned about coming here, I knew once I was back this is where I’d be coming.
“I’ve been following all the games, chomping at the bit to get back. It will be nice to be back
around a team environment and I’m just ready and raring to go.”
Head coach Redfearn is delighted to make the talented defender his first new signing of
the summer.
“Bradders is a massive signing for us. I had her at Doncaster Rovers Belles, I took her to
Liverpool and she’s more than capable of playing in the level above.
“You look at her CV, played international football for England, for Team GB, she’s a really
massive signing for us and a real statement of intent.”
