Everton announce new manager

Everton Women has appointed Jean-Luc Vasseur as the Club’s new manager on a two-and-
       a-half-year deal until June 2024.
A Champions League-winning boss with Olympique Lyonnais Féminin and the 2020
recipient of FIFA’s World Women’s Coach of the Year award, Frenchman Vasseur joins
       Everton with a glittering CV.
He led Lyon Women’s all-conquering 2019-20 team which, as well as being crowned
European champions, won the French league title, Coupe de France, Trophée des
Championnes and Women’s International Champions Cup.
Vasseur has already visited Everton’s training ground USM Finch Farm, Women’s
stadium Walton Hall Park and Club headquarters at the Royal Liver Building with Alan
McTavish, Managing Director of Everton Women.
He replaces Willie Kirk who parted company with the club last month after just under
       two years in the role.
Everton have also announced, in a club statement, that Sporting Director, Sarvar
Ismailov has also left the club. The statement said: “Everton Football Club can confirm that
Sarvar Ismailov has stepped down from his duties for personal and health reasons. He has
resigned from the Club’s Board of Directors and the positions of Owner’s Executive
Representative and Sporting and Commercial Director at Everton Women. The decision was
taken by Mr Ismailov and is effective immediately.”
Vasseur took charge of Everton for the first time on Wednesday night, when his new
club defeated Leicester City 3-1 in the group stages of the Continental Tyres Cup.
New BBC deal for NI matches
BBC Sport NI will show home Northern Ireland senior women’s internationals until 2026, in a
new five-year broadcast agreement with the Irish FA announced last week.
The agreement will see every home game for Kenny Shiels’ side live streamed on BBC
iPlayer. Northern Ireland’s FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 qualifier against England on 8th
April next year will also be shown live on BBC network and BBC Two NI.
The agreement builds on the existing partnership between BBC Sport NI and the Irish
FA which saw BBC Northern Ireland broadcast Northern Ireland’s historic qualification for
       UEFA Women’s Euro 2022.
Ahead of last week’s draw for the Euros, BBC Sport NI broadcast Northern Ireland’s
Women’s World Cup qualifier against Austria live, with Thomas Kane on commentary and
former Northern Ireland international Gail Redmond providing analysis.
Northern Ireland senior women’s team captain Marissa Callaghan said: “This
partnership with the BBC means more visibility and connection with fans of all ages right across
the country. Having our games broadcast live on a regular basis shows just how far the women’s
       game has come.”
Neil Brittain, Executive Editor of BBC Sport NI, said: “This is a really exciting time to be
extending our partnership with the Northern Ireland women’s international team.
“With the Euros just a few months away, and a strong start to World Cup qualification
already achieved, this is a group of players that is bringing pride to football fans across Northern
Ireland. We look forward to bringing these matches free to audiences and to telling the story of
this team next summer and for the next five years.”
Northern Ireland senior women’s team manager Kenny Shiels added: “I am so proud
to lead this group of players.
“They are role models to every young girl in Northern Ireland and I am delighted that
this deal with the BBC will allow many more people in homes across the country to follow
       their impressive achievements.”
