FA Women’s National League

       Northern Premier Division
Although their match against Sheffield FC was
postponed, Wolverhampton Wanderers hold on to
the leadership but have seen their advantage trimmed
to a single point by two teams, headed by Fylde Women after they defeated Brighouse
Town 5-2. Indeed, it was a five-star first half display from the Coasters as they netted all of
their goals during that time, Amy Hughes and Laura Merrin each scoring twice after Faye
McCoy had given them a second minute lead. Brighouse, who were beaten for only the second
time this season, replied through Ellie White and Amy Woodruff.
Derby County are the other team who are one point off the pace, following an
impressive 3-1 win away to fourth placed Huddersfield Town. Emily Joyce gave the Ewe
Rams a first half lead and five minutes after the break, Jade Formaston put them two ahead.
Brittany Sanderson renewed hopes for Town when she pulled one back but Sherry McCue
sealed the points for Derby as she scored the third late on.
After their two previous matches had ended in goalless draws, it was completely the
opposite on Sunday for West Bromwich Albion as their trip to Burnley FC Women
finished in a 4-3 victory! Ashlee Brown, Hannah George, Shannon Stamps and Jannelle Straker
were all on target for Albion, whilst Burnley's replies came via Evie Priestley, Katie Thomas and
       a Nicola Worthington penalty.
Middlesbrough staged a second half fightback to give themselves a 2-1 win against
Hull City. Liberty Bott gave Hull the lead during the first half but after the break, Faye Dale
and Armani Maxwell both scored to turn the match around in 'Boro's favour.
       Southern Premier Division
Ipswich Town once again took full advantage of Southampton FC Women's inactivity to
win 5-0 away to Plymouth Argyle and extend their lead at the top of the table to nine points.
Zoe Barratt, Lucy O'Brien, Paige Peake, Maddie Biggs and Natasha Thomas all scored a goal
apiece to make sure that the long journey home for Ipswich was a happy one.
One other match in the division survived the weather on Sunday, at Cardiff City
Ladies where visitors Oxford Utd ran out 3-0 winners. All three goals came in the final half
hour of the game, Daisy McLachlan opening the scoring for the U's winner and after Beth
Lumsden had scored a second, McLachlan completed her double in injury time to round off a
sixth victory in seven games for Oxford.
       Division One North
Liverpool Feds have returned to the top of the table following their 6-1 victory against
Chester-le-Street Town on Sunday. With Leeds Utd not in action, the Feds went into the
game knowing that a win would see them regain the leadership and Paige Cole gave them a
tenth minute lead, with Elizabeth Thompson-Clarke quickly equalising for the Cestrians. Erin
Slade put the Feds back in front and Cole then netted her second, before Ellie Stewart and Ellie
Fletcher added further goals ahead of half time. Slade rounded off the scoring during the
second half when she completed her double.
One other match was played in the division on Sunday, Norton & Stockton
Ancients winning 2-1 against Bradford City. After Sophie Hawkins had given Bradford a
first half lead, Sophie Tierney levelled the scores and Bianca Owens scored what proved to be
the winner on the hour, to take Norton up into fourth place.
       Division One Midlands
Lincoln City are five points clear at the top once again, following their 2-1 victory away to
Bedworth Utd on Sunday. Jeorgia Carr and Toni McHamilton scored the goals for Lincoln,
