Another week, another set of victories for the top three in SWPL 1 as they continue to pull away
from the teams below them.
Rangers continue to lead the way on goal difference after they defeated Motherwell
4-0. Although in the middle of their UEFA Women’s Champions League Second Round tie with
Benfica, Rangers very much kept the ball rolling in the league as Lizzie Arnot gave them a first
half lead, before Kirsty Howat, Brogan Hay and Kayla McCoy added further goals after the break.
Celtic meanwhile returned from Aberdeen with a 3-0 victory under their belts. Clarissa
Larisey gave them the lead on the half hour, which they increased with goals after the break from
Jacynta Galabadaarachchi and Lucy Ashworth-Clifford.
Glasgow City took on fourth placed Hearts and maintained their own 100% record
with a 2-0 win. Jenna Clark headed City in front in the ninth minute but dogged resistance from
Hearts, goalkeeper Charlotte Parker-Smith in particular, kept them in the game until Lauren
Davidson doubled their lead midway through the second half.
A win eould have taken Spartans into the top four but instead, their Edinburgh derby
match with Hibernian finished level at 2-2. Becky Galbraith headed Spartans in front during
the first half, with Nor Mustafa equalising on the stroke of half time. Liana Hinds then curled
home a superb shot to put Hibs ahead for the first time but it was Spartans’ turn to hit back and
Alana Marshall levelled to give them a point on the day.
Dundee Utd moved up the table as they won a see-saw match 3-2 against Hamilton
Academical. Rachel Todd gave United a first half lead with was cancelled out by Josephine
Giard, and Megan Quigley put the Accies in front after the break. Danni McGinley levelled the
scores one again and Robyn Smith then scored what proved to be the winner.
Partick Thistle claimed their first win of the season in style, 8-1 over Glasgow
Women. Jordan McLintock hit a first half hat-trick for Thistle and she was joined on the
scoresheet by Abbie Ferguson, Rebecca
