KEYNSHAM TOWN LADIES 3
Manager’s Notes
Today is the final home game of the season and we
welcome St Austell as our opponents for this encounter
and trust that they have had a safe journey from Cornwall
to the AJN Stadium. As our own furthest away trip this
season, we understand the high level of travelling that our
opponents have had to cope with this season.
The result of today’s match is seriously important for both
teams. From our own point of view, we have four
remaining games and sit 10 points above Larkhall in the
bottom two, who also have four games to play. While
that, to all intense and purposes, is a safe margin, it is not
mathematically certain safety. We could lose all our
games and Larkhall win all of theirs. If, however, we gain
three points from today’s fixture or Larkhall fail to win at home to Bournemouth,
then it will be mathematical safety for this club.
From St Austell’s view point, they have five games left to play, including this one.
They lie 13 points from the club immediately above the relegation zone, which is
Maidenhead, who have six games left to play. Clearly, if St Austell were to win all
of their remaining matches and Maidenhead lose all of theirs, then St Austell could
could survive. If our opponents do not win today, then that chance would go and
their fate would be sealed. So it really is an important game this afternoon.
This week should have seen the Senior Women’s County Cup Final against
Bridgwater. This game was rained off on Thursday. We had objected to the
appointment of an Ex Yeovil player as the appointed referee on the grounds, not
of ability, but of the serious conflicts this would produce. No more comment here,
but for those spectators that remember Raymond Chandler’s ‘The Big Sleep’ we
have a revealing note further on in the programme entitled ‘The Big Fib’, written
by our contributor Dick Barton.
Our Reserve team have an away fixture at
Bournemouth Reserves, who sit high up in the
FAWNL Reserve South West table. Let’s hope that
Sven Kierk gets some reward for all the hard work
that the players consistently put in.
