Arsenal continue to head the way in the early stages of the season in the
Barclays FA WSL after making it four victories on the trot when scoring five
times without reply past Brighton & Hove Albion.
Vivianne Miedema opened the scoring for the Gunners in the tenth
minute, a lead which was doubled ahead of half time by Danielle van de Donk.
Jennifer Beattie made it three just after the restart and Arsenal added two
further goals late on, Lotte Wubben-Moy putting them further in front before
Miedema added her second in injury time - putting her level with all-time
WSL leading scorer Nikita Parris on 49 goals, in a remarkable 49 appearances.
Everton are showing no signs of slowing down in second place and
they kept up their own 100% record when beating West Ham Utd 3-1. Nicoline Sorensen gave
the Toffees an early lead but the Hammers recovered well to level the scores midway through the
first half when Kenza Dali drove home from the edge of the area. West Ham started the second half
well but it was Everton who went back in front again through a superb 25-yard strike from Lucy
Graham and the Scottish international sewed up the win with her second goal in injury time.
Chelsea stay two points off the pace in third but after a significant victory, 3-1 against
Manchester City. Both teams had opportunities during the first half but it was Chelsea who took
the lead seven minutes before half time, Maren Mjelde scoring from the penalty spot following a
handball decision in the area. Sam Kerr doubled the advantage early in the second half, before City
gave themselves a lifeline through a penalty of their own, converted by Chloe Kelly. Nine minutes
later, Fran Kirby latched on to Erin Cuthbert's through ball to make the game safe for her side with
their third goal.
Manchester Utd had spent a day on top of the league following their 1-0 win away to
Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. United had the
better of the chances on the day but came up against Tottenham Hotspur 0
