League Plate
Leeds Utd lifted their biggest trophy since 2010 when
they won 3-1 against Stourbridge in the Final at the
Armco Arena. Macy Ellis fired Leeds in front on the half
hour, with the Glassgirls levelling the scores four minutes later. Abbie Brown restored Leeds' lead
just after the hour and Amy Woodruff sealed the victory for her side with fifteen minutes
remaining.
Reserves Plate
Newcastle Utd picked up the first of a potential trophy 'double' when they defeated
Portsmouth 3-0 in the Final at the Armco Arena. Jasmine McQuade opened the scoring for the
Magpies just ahead of half time and Sharna Wilkinson made it two early in the second half, before
Georgina Spraggon added the third and final goal in injury time.
Northern Premier Division
Nottingham Forest have gone four points ahead at the top after they won 2-0 away to Derby
County in their local derby clash at Pride Park. In front of an attendance of 5,243, Charlotte
Steggles gave Forest a first half lead and Charlotte Greengrass added the second on the hour to
seal the points as Forest took advantage of their rivals not playing.
Huddersfield Town meanwhile ended their run of six league games without a win with
a 1-0 success away to Liverpool Feds. Brittany Sanderson scored the only goal of the game,
twenty minutes from time, to help Town make up ground on the top half once again.
Fylde Women have all but banished any lingering relegation fears, thanks to a 1-0 victory
over Loughborough Lightning. A goal in the eighteenth minute from Emma Siddall handed
the Coasters a second win in successive weeks.
On Wednesday night, Liverpool Feds climbed out of the bottom three by winning 4-1 at
Fylde Women. Katie Thomas gave the Feds a one-goal lead at the break and after Sasha Rowe
levelled the scores in the opening minute of the second half, Emma Johnson put the Feds back in
front five minutes later and they went on to wrap up the win with further strikes from Amy
Seagraves and Paige Cole.
Southern Premier Division
Ipswich Town kept up the pace at the top of the table with a 1-0 victory away to Gillingham.
Anna Grey scored the only goal of the game during the first half as Ipswich made it seven league
wins on the trot.
Oxford Utd remain two points behind leaders Ipswich following their 2-0 win against
Plymouth Argyle. Natasha Stephens headed the U's in front late in the first half and they went
on to seal the points when Amy Goddard scored the second. Sunday will therefore see a crucial
match in the title race as Ipswich play host to Oxford.
Watford moved into the top three after scoring five times without reply at Milton
Keynes Dons. Poppy Wilson kept up her good form in front of goal by netting twice, and she
was joined on the scoresheet by Andria Georgiou, Gemma Davison and Sophie McLean.
Division One North
With title rivals Newcastle Utd not playing, Durham Cestria took an opportunity to restore
their lead of four points as they won 2-1 against fourth placed Stockport County. Leanna Giles
gave Durham a third minute lead and after Chloe Howard equalised for County on the stroke of
half time, Poppy Pritchard netted early in the second half to earn the Wildcats three valuable
points.
Barnsley stay in third place despite crashing to a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Hull City, who
continue their improvement as the season goes on. Hope Knight netted twice for Hull along with
Rachael Ackroyd, Amy Pollock and Katie Thompson, whilst the home side's consolation came
from Emily Pierrepont.
