Wolverhampton Wanderers claimed a second successive scalp from
the division above, this time with an impressive 4-1 win away to
Watford which takes them through to the Fourth Round.
Jade Cross gave Wolves the lead in the
ninth minute, with Katie O’Leary levelling the
scores just ahead of the break. Kelly Darby restored
the visitors’ lead and they went on to add further
goals through an Anna Morphet penalty and
Jamila Palmer, to book themselves a home tie with
Blackburn Rovers.
Burnley FC Women have a dream tie
against Manchester Utd after getting past
Sunderland on a penalty shootout. The match
itself ended goalless after extra time, taking it to
penalties where Burnley captain and goalkeeper
Lauren Bracewell emerged as their heroine with
three saves as the Clarets won 3-1 from the spot.
Gillingham now travel to Arsenal
following their 2-1 extra time success at
Cheltenham Town. Jade Keogh and Otesha Cheltenham Town’s Lauren Ellis is challenged by Jasmine Auguste

Chichester & Selsey are another team who will play WSL opponents as they came through
a tricky tie with a 2-1 victory over Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road. All of the goals came in the first
half, Sophie Phelps’ early goal for Chi was cancelled out by Nyara Denny but Natasha Wild scored what
proved to be the winner and sets her side up with a meeting against West Ham Utd.
Southampton FC Women swept into the Fourth Round by defeating Yeovil Utd 3-0.
Shannon Sievwright gave Southampton a first half lead via a superb strike from the edge of the area
and after the break, Sophia Pharoah finished off a good move when she slid home from close range.
Rachel Panting made it three with a left foot shot to seal a fine win for the Saints, who will travel further
along the South Coast this Sunday to face Championship side Lewes.
Huddersfield Town meanwhile survived a scare as they defeated Brighouse Town on
penalties following a 1-1 draw. Amy Woodruff gave a plucky Brighouse side a first half lead from the
spot, with Brittany Sanderson equalising after the break. Extra time could not decided a winner and it
was Huddersfield who won 5-3 in the resulting shootout, Katie Nutter slotting home the winning
penalty.
Huddersfield will now be at home to Derby County, who ran out 4-1 winners away to
West Bromwich Albion. Jodie Michalska and Ellie Gilliatt each netted braces to give the Ewe Rams
an impressive victory, whilst Albion’s consolation came from Emily Owen.
Oxford Utd produced a good performance to end the cup run of Billericay Town, beating
them 3-1. Carly Johns put the U’s in front midway through the first half with a well taken goal and
Daisy McLachlan doubled their lead from a corner
after the break. Billericay dug in and Georgia
Morton pulled a goal back with twelve minutes
remaining but any hopes of a fightback were well
and truly ended with Emily Allen fired home a
30-yard screamer to seal the win. Oxford’s reward
is a home tie this week against Charlton
Athletic.
Middlesbrough ended the run of
Wem Town Ladies with a 4-0 victory and they
now face Sheffield Utd. ‘Boro took the lead
through a long range strrike from Katie Wilson
midway through the first half, with Libby Dixon
making it two shortly after the interval. Wilson
increased their advantage with her second on the Cheltenham Town celebrate as an own goal gives them the lead
day and Armani Maxwell rounded off the scoring. against Gillingham (Will Cheshire).
