Sam Avery - The experienced defender progressed through the Gloucester City Academy, before
leaving in 2005 to join Chipping Norton FC. He went on to have two spells with Bishops Cleeve as well
as spells at Carterton Town and Shortwood United before rejoining Gloucester in 2014. He spent the
next six years at the club, including a period as captain, before joining the Seagulls in January 2021.
Jason Pope - The ball-playing defender came through the Exeter City Academy and signed a
professional contract in 2014. He came to Weston, originally on loan, during the 2015-2016 season
before joining permanently in 2016 after his Exeter release. Spending the next three years as a
mainstay in the defence, he spent a season with both Hereford FC and Bath City before rejoining for the
current season.
Keiran Thomas - The no-nonsense full-back began his career at Cheltenham Town, spending part of
the 2012/2013 season on loan at Cinderford Town. After being released by Chelteham at the age of 18
in 2013, he spent the next three years on Cinderford’s books, being their captain during 2015/2016 as
they won the Southern League South & West. In 2016, he moved to Gloucester City where he spent two
seasons before spending the same amount of time at Hereford FC. In 2020, he signed for Weston.
Will Turner - Turner joined the Forest Green Rovers Academy at the age of 13 and rose through the
ranks to begin a two-year scholarship in 2018. A serious injury in 19/20 led to him getting a third year to
try and get a professional contract, before departing FGR in the summer of 2021. He signed for Weston
at the start of the season following a pre-season trial.
James Dodd - Progressing through the Exeter City Academy, the midfielder turned professional in 2018
with the Grecians. Spending a month on loan with Taunton across the 2018 festive period before
returning to Exeter, the midfielder then went on to suffer a couple of injury-hit seasons. As he returned
to fitness in the 2021 summer, he was included in Exeter’s first-team squad at the start of the season
before joining Weston on loan until January in September.
Jack Holmes - The central midfielder spent his youth days in the Cheltenham and Forest Green
academies, before leaving the latter at the age of 18 in 2016. He joined Brimscombe & Thrupp for the
16/17 season before heading off to study and play in America for three years. In 2020, he returned to
England and again played for Brimscombe, joining Slimbridge in the 2021 summer. After spending pre-
season with the Swans, he moved to the Seagulls days before the new campaign kicked off.
Lloyd Humphries - Humphries began his career as a Cardiff City player, signing a professional contract
in 2016. His first taste of first-team football came with a loan spell under Scott Bartlett in 2016/2017 at
Weston before injuries impacted his development over a two-year spell. He returned to Weston on loan
during 2019/2020 before being released by Cardiff at the end of the season. He joined Weston at the
start of the 2020/2021 season on a permanent basis.
Jacob Jagger-Cane - The energetic midfielder started out at Exeter City, becoming a professional in
2012. He spent two loan spells with Poole Town and one with Weymouth over the next two years before
being released by Exeter in 2014. Upon release, he signed for the Seagulls and became a key part of
the side over the next five years. In 2019, he joined Hereford FC, with a loan spell at Weston coming
later on that season. In 2020, he rejoined the club on a permanent basis.
Josh Thomas - The defensive midfielder began his career in the Hereford United and Cheltenham Town
academies before signing professional with the latter in 2017. During his time at Cheltenham, he
enjoyed three loan spells with North Leigh before the Robins released him in 2018. Spending the first
