Newly crowned league Champions Cardiff City Women are showing no signs of slowing up
and they now have a ten point lead following Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Cardiff Met Women.
Eliza Collie has been in fine form in recent weeks and she underlined this by scoring both goals
for the Bluebirds.
Swansea City have already secured the runners-up spot but the ywent down to only their
second league defeat of the season, beaten 2-1 by The New Saints. The home side took the lead
on the half hour through a Beth Lewis penalty, with Katy Hosford getting the Swans back on
level terms by the break. Emma Ridge put TNS back in front with sixteen minutes remaining
and this time they held on, to record a notable win over last saeson’s title winners.
Pontypridd Utd will finish on top of the Plate conference following their 1-1 draw against
Barry Town Utd. The first half was goalless but after Sophie Norman had given Barry the lead
shortly after the restart, Alison Witts scored an equaliser with fourteen minutes remaining to
give Ponty the result they needed.
Aberystwyth Town did all they could with a 3-0 victory against Abergavenny
Women but they will have to settled for second in the Plate conference, and sixth overall. All
of the damage inflicted by Aberystwyth came early on, with the three goals coming inside the
opening seventeen minutes. Emily Thomas gave them an early lead, Shauma Chambers added
a quick second and Amy Jenkins joined them on the scoresheet.
Llandudno Ladies kept their outside hopes of a second place finish alive after they
defeated Llanfair Utd 5-1. Sofie Owen’s early strike for Llandudno was quickly cancelled out
by Harriet Davies but Erin Doran and Rebecca Jarvis-Evans ensured that Llandudno went into
the half time break with a two-goal advantage. In the second half, Maddie Williams and Sioned
Phillips also got on the scoresheet but
