Who will need these services?
•Children and students with severe disabilities who require services to support the achievement of curricular outcomes, including those in ECS who qualify (or would formerly have qualified) for PUF.
•Will we continue the PUF model for kindergarten students with severe disabilities? or move them to the current 1-12 model, which is primarily consultation-based? Or decide on a case-by-case basis?
•Students with mild or moderate needs that require either direct therapy (one-on-one or small group) or use of universal or targeted strategies to support educational functioning.
•Students requiring support services may or may not meet the criteria for a Special Education Code.
Learning Support Teacher
•LST FTE allocation at each school determined by a formula built to capture the level of need in the school/ community.
•LST FTE allocation at each school determined by a formula built to capture the level of need in the school/ community.
•LST FTE and specific role determined at school level by Principal to meet the need at the school.
Speech-Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy
•Commit to funding portions of FTE through AHS (they may not be able to do this as they might not be able to manage a variety of different regional or local agreements.)
•Hire service providers for our school division.
•Consider the amount of time to be allocated to each school, travel between schools, supervision, role, referral process.
•Contract with service providers - coordinated divisionally.
•Managed at the school level on a case by case basis to contract as needed.
•AHS-employed SLP average pay $48.74/hour plus benefits.
•$135-150/hour for contracted services
