AJSH Survey Interpretation

How Students rate the Availability and Quality of Computersand Other Equipment
•For the school term 2003-2004, there was an increase in the satisfaction rating of stu- dents with respect to the availability of computers and other technologies in AJSH.
•AJSH has two computer rooms and enough multimedia equipment (5 video cams, 2 digital cameras, 2 Smart boards, 3 projectors, 1 eMac, 1 Powerbook) for students use.

How students rate their CTS courses
•Satisfaction on the CTS program, however, has been encouraging. 74% and 66% of Grades 10 – 12 students are satisfied with the over-all quality of the CTS program and the variety of courses offered, respectively.

How parents rate their children’s access to computers and computer technology skills
•For the school term 2003-2004, more parents were satisfied with the availability of computers for their children’s use and with their over-all computer technology skills.
•The implementation of Students Achieve as a communication tool between the school and home not only helped keep parents informed of their children’s academic progress but also boosted the school’s image as being pro-active in
technology.
•It is also worth noting that AJSH teachers regularly use the mass e-mail feature of Stu- dents Achieve to communicate developments in the classrooms to all parents. This is a very productive use of the software which should be encouraged.

•The 2% decline in overall satisfaction could be attributed to a number of reasons, one of which may include students’ perception that they are not skilled enough to use certain technologies that are popularly used (i.e. web page development, video edit- ing) in school. This can be addressed through lesson activities which expose them to multimedia applications
