We rest on Thee, our shield and our defender!
       We go not forth alone against the foe;

       Strong in Thy strength, safe in Thy keeping tender,
       We rest on Thee, and in Thy name we go.
       Strong in Thy strength, safe in Thy keeping tender,
       We rest on Thee, and in Thy name we go.

       Yes, in Thy name, O Captain of salvation!
       In Thy dear name, all other names above;
       Jesus our righteousness, our sure foundation,
       Our prince of glory and our king of love.
       Jesus our righteousness, our sure foundation,
       Our prince of glory and our king of love.

       We go in faith our own great weakness feeling,
       And needing more each day Thy grace to know:
       Yet from our hearts a song of triumph peeling,

       Victors, we rest with Thee, through endless days,
       When passing through the gates of pearly splendour,
       Victors, we rest with Thee, through endless days.

       jungle, they launched their spears!

       The deaths of these young men only encouraged more Christian pilots to
       continue the work. They regularly dropped gifts to the Huaorani. Elizabeth
       (Jim Elliot’s widow) and Rachel (Nate Saint’s sister) stayed in Ecuador.
       Two years later some of the Huaorani women invited them to go and live
       with them. This they did, which led to many in the tribe being converted.
       Among those converted were some of men who had killed the
       missionaries!

       The hymn was written by Edith Cherry. Born in 1872. At 18 months she
       was struck with poliomyelitis. At twelve she suffered a stroke, but on
       recovering she developed a gift for hymn writing and poetry. She went to
