Dear Friends,

My favourite emails to write are
always the good news stories! So today I want to take you to
eastern Sri Lanka, where your love has transformed hundreds of
lives!

Do you remember Thibekka and Ajai, and their twin daughters
Kavina and Kabitha? The young parents had been through so
much when we shared their story at Christmas. Then you rallied
around this incredible, resilient family. And now because of your
amazing generosity, they are thriving.

You’ll remember that one by one, the family were diagnosed with
leprosy. Through your faithful support, they got the cure early
and were spared any lasting damage from the disease.

But they still faced the daily struggle of poverty, and had no clean
water. And with no proper sanitation either, Kavina and Kabitha
had to go to the toilet outside. It wasn’t safe or dignified. You can
imagine the worry that gripped Thibekka and Ajai every day!

I’m so happy to share that, thanks to you, Thibekka and Ajai
now have a well and a toilet. They are so happy to finally have a
clean water supply and proper sanitation!

So far, 20 families in Batticaloa have got new toilets. Our partners
have dug 24 wells, bringing clean water to hundreds of people. 310
more people have got the cure for leprosy, including 39 children.
That’s 39 more children like Kavina and Kabitha happily playing
without fear!

And this is just the start of the difference you’re making. This
year, many more families will have safe water to drink. Parents will
breathe a sigh of relief, knowing their children can grow up free
from leprosy. Whole communities will have a healthier, brighter
future – all because of you. I can’t wait to share their stories with
you.
