In Memoriam
Gordon William Frederick Jenkins
nd
th
25 February 1933 - 22 January 2026
Gordon was brought up in West Morden and spent
most of his early life on the family farm. At 14 he
left school and worked with his farther on the farm, which he hoped
to take over eventually. Sadly this was not to be, and he took jobs
as a driver and labourer for local firms, including Spillers.
A church attender all his life, Gordon married Mary in September
1958 at, what is now, Wareham URC. They had one son also
called Gordon. Mary grew produce and sold it at the Home
Producers' Market. The family lived in Wareham.
Gordon loved music and could play the accordion by ear. He never
lost his love of the soil and was groundsman at Wareham Middle
School for 14 years. His passion was growing geraniums which he
then planted to decorate the school grounds.
Mary and Gordon lived a quiet, happy, contented life and Gordon
was much affected by Mary's death in 2018. Gordon was a man of
faith and continued to attend Wareham URC until ill health
prevented him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his son Gordon, the family and his
many friends. Janet
