The pond here is almost dry, but it is home to great crested
newts, one of the rarest newts, verging on extinction. I
suspect they would have been more common in the priest’s
day.
How the priest would have stared at these huge cruise ships
anchored in the bay. He would have wondered how such heavy
metal boats could float and worried that they were so tall they
would capsize.
