Coastline between Seacombe and Winspit
The sea quarries were started in the 16 century and the last

one closed in 1960 because it was no longer economical.
Would the priest have taken shelter from a passing shower in
a cave in Winspit quarry as we did? The rare Greater
Horseshoe Bat roosts in some of these caves but we weren’t
there at dusk to see them fly out.
