The Priest's Way is over 1000 years old. Worth dates back to
the Saxons. In the Middle Ages Worth Matravers was a
wealthy farming community, owned by the Maltravers family,

with a beautiful Norman church. The parish priest also took
services for the poor fishing village of Swanage and
frequently walked from one church to the other on the ancient
       track which took his name.

Before leaving for Swanage the priest may well have popped
into his home church of St Nicholas, built in the 11th century,
to say a prayer. Unfortunately, when we visited in 2020 it was

undergoing major repairs and we couldn't go inside.
