The Challenge of Television
It is not often that I am spiritually challenged as a result of a
television programme!
I have very much enjoyed following the ‘Seaside Parish’ series of
programmes on BBC2. Especially following the drama of the
Boscastle floods, and the way in which the village was drawn
together in its response to the disaster.
The last programme in the recent series, featured a young curate
who was ordained to the ‘Street Ministry’ of Truro, who, when he
was chatting to the programme presenter, spoke of his ordination.
Bishop Bill, (Bishop of Truro) had said something to him that has
equally challenged me. He said:
“If I don’t get complaints about you, it means you are not stirring
things up.
If you are not stirring things up, are you preaching the Gospel?”
I’ll say no more.
Chris Pullen.
