you out there and we went out last Spring and had a great, great time. We played with all the people
that I was inspired by years ago. It was a real dream holiday thing. I got to hang out with some of
these guys and we jammed and played. So we're going to go back again this Spring and this time we'll
go for a month so it would be really nice if I could get something ready just to take it out there and
just pass it around to a few cool people that would play it on radio stations.
BiTS: That sounds absolutely fabulous.
How wonderful. What a nice thing to be
able to do.
VL: Yeah, yeah, and at the moment, it's
like, well, let's just go for that. I mean, we'll
just go out there for a holiday. We’ve got
good friends out there. I made good
connections with musicians from years of
touring because I was in the band called
The Wildcards, with the ex-members of
The Nightporters, and my long-term bass
player, Al Wallace. We were in a touring
band for 12 years and we played all over
Europe and all that stuff. So I made
connections with some great musicians
from around the States and around the
rest of the world.
BiTS: You've obviously travelled a lot and
done, seen and met a lot of people. Do you have ambition left, Vince?
VL: Well, yeah, I mean, it's kind of like working out alright, really. I don't think I was ever really cut
out for the touring thing. I gave that up pretty soon,
but like I do enjoy just dabbling with it. So I do it at
my own pace and being with Sophie has really sort of
opened up some new avenues for me, like going to the
States and having somebody close that I can confide
in musically. We can talk about songs and be close
about it. It's not so easy when you're in a band with a
bunch of guys because you only see them at gigs and
all that stuff. But when you're in a relationship with
somebody and you spend a lot of time together, you
can really get inside the music. She's a great musician.
She's just a great musician. I’m pleased to have her on
anything I do. She’s just great.
BiTS: Where do you expect to be in, say, five years'
time?
VL: Well I'm getting on a bit now. To be honest with
you, if I can still do what I'm doing now, then I'll be a
happy man because I know a lot of guys my age who can't do it no more, for whatever reason. Their
fingers won't do what they want to do anymore or their voices. At the moment, I'm in good shape, I
think, so touch some wood there like, but I'm playing alright. I'm doing alright and I've got a positive
attitude for it. So I think at the end of the day, that's all you can really have, and then if you have all
that stuff, then things will go your way anyway. That's the way I look at it.
