LL: Hermonicas.com is really packed with all sorts of information! How did you do your
research and what did you learn in the process?
ND: Most of my research was on—line but I also
got help from some of the women I contacted,
and a few books & magazines I read. The
research taught me that there
was very little attention being
paid to women harp players. I
decided to try to remedy that if I could.
LL: Could you please tell us a bit about
a few of the female players that stood
out to you?
ND: I found some amazingly talented
players. Two of the most talented I
found in France; Rachel Plas and
Christelle Berthon. If I had to rank
the players I discovered, I would
put Christelle at the top of the
list. But there were more
talented players; Paula Rangell
in New Orleans, Octavia in Pennsylvania, Tracy K in Canada, Cheryl Arena in Denver, Beata
Kossowska in Germany, Maria Coyote in Sweden, DJ Gosper in Australia, Zola Moon in Los
Angeles, Stacy Jones in Seattle, Lynnann Hyde in Oregon and Jenny Kerr in San Francisco.
LL: Please tell us about the “Fun Stuff” page on Hermonicas.com.
ND: During my research, I came across various amusing harmonica—related web nuggets. I put
them on a page to cheer up readers.
LL: What do you hope Hermonicas.com will accomplish?
ND: One of the first goals was to produce an album of women blues harmonica players. None had
ever been made before. It took four years, but to make music lovers aware of all the talented
woman players around the world and be a connection for them to promote their gigs and
merchandise and communicate with their peers.
