moniker that he has garnered during his career. Backing Gregg who takes lead vocals are Tony
Goulas on guitar, the bass is provided by Sid Daigle with Tim Courville on drums, keyboards are
courtesy of Bryan Perrin on piano and Charles Venture on B3.
This inviting collection of 13 numbers includes 3 originals, one being the horn drenched deep soul
ballad ‘Just Stay Gone,’ written by Tony Goulas, here Gregg delivers a pleasingly evocative pleading
performance. His interpretation of Ray Charles’s ‘I Believe In My Soul,’ is splendidly driven by a
seventies bubbling and rolling organ, backed by softly punching horns, while Gregg’s seductively
mellow vocals glide above. The grooving Clarence Carter’s ‘Snatching It Back’ is once again
drenched in punching horns supplied by Claude Salles on trombone and Ron Eades on saxophone.
The stunning and driven duet ‘Don’t Pull Your Love’, features the powerful and emotive vocals of
Charlene Howard.
A second duet is the early ‘70s Stax number ‘Starting All Over Again,’ with guitarist Tony Goulas ,
together the pair greatly evoke splendid memories of a glorious musical period. The majestically
soulful guitar on the popular Freddie King number ‘Same Old Blues,’ is laced with gently blowing
horns while Gregg delivers a very soulful vocal. The rocking ‘Eva Delle’ sees Gregg and the band go
full tilt, blasting away with the help of Sonny Landreth, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. and Anthony Dopsie.
Greatly endorsed!

CD Woodbury—World’s Gone Crazy—Independent
The CD Woodbury Band was formed by the pairing C.D. himself
and the remnants of Tim Casey’s Bluescats at the Snohomish Blues
Invasion in 2009. Prior to that, CD has had the distinction of
playing in front of two American Presidents and on one occasion
playing the music of Jimi Hendrix before the Hendrix family. CD’s
invaluable Texas roadhouse experiences and his Jazz and Blues
background has, over the years, stood him in good stead. In 2018
CD seriously considered retiring from music altogether following
health issues and wrist surgery, but after six months of inactivity
he re—formed his band with Don Montana on drums and vocals with Patrick McDanel providing
bass and vocals and Mike Marinig on keyboards and horns. CD is on lead guitar and vocals. Together
in 2020 they represented The Washington Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge in
Memphis Tennessee; they also went into the Robert Lang studios in Seattle to record this 13 track
album of originals and covers.
The proceedings start with a fine acapella intro on ‘Follow The River Home’ that segues into a fine
jumpin’ slide driven toe-tapper with a jolly, fat saxophone and driving percussion urging the music
on. The enjoyably jazz rich, slow moody guitar and saxophone of ‘Walk Around Music’ is paired
with a slightly lumbering drum that certainly emphasises CD’s claim to be unable to dance but
nonetheless, still loves to soulfully groove. CD and the band amply display their tight, flexible
playing ability on the melancholy, slowburning ‘Emerald City Blues’ which features a splendid
