BiTS: I sincerely hope it happens. You must have been incredibly busy during the last
couple of years. I mean, hardly a moment for yourself.
AA: Yeah, and no I don't. I actually am driving home today after being at the wonderful
Carlisle Blues Rock Festival. I'm going to land soon at home and I'm going to sleep in
my own bed for two nights. I haven't slept in my own bed for more than two nights at
a time for about two to three months,
so I'm really looking forward to it
[laughing].
BiTS: Yes, I bet you are too.
AA: I was talking to the wonderful
Marco Cinelli earlier on the phone.
They've been out to Memphis to do the
International Blues Challenge before.
I'm getting some advice from him
today and I was telling him, discussing
how to do this job, you have to give
over absolutely everything of yourself
to existing as an artist. It's not your
average job.
You throw every single inch of who you
are as a person into this job and just
dedicate your life to it, otherwise, it's
not going to work. You have to become the monk on the path of enlightenment, really,
to truly keep pushing that boulder up the hill.
BiTS: Okay, well, I'm not going to take any more of your time. Thank you very much
indeed for talking to me, and you have a safe drive home and enjoy a bit of time in bed.
AA: Sure, my love. May I make one more point please? I will be starting a fundraiser
soon to help us get to Memphis. If you wouldn't mind mentioning that, that it will be
coming, that would be wonderful, thank you. I need all the help I can get [laughs].
BiTS: I will be, as I always do through Blues in the South, trying to encourage people
to put some money in. I think I was successful in getting enough for last year's
candidate, Errol Linton, to go.
AA: Oh, wonderful. Errol, yes.
BiTS: I'm pretty sure that we'll be able to get you there [chuckles].
AA: Wonderful. Thank you so much, my love. Thank you so much for calling.
BiTS: Have a safe drive. Speak to you soon.
