I [chuckles] didn't really know him too well. And when I suggested this idea, when
me and Reg suggested this idea of doing a tour together, Geoff was like: “Let's go
for it”.
TW: We had such a good time last year, thankfully, that we are all doing it again
this year as well. And, hopefully for many more years to come as well.
FD: So you're in Warrnambool tomorrow for the Blues Guitar Roadshow. You then,
head to Bendigo (Victoria) on Valentine's Day on Saturday, down to Nunawading
(Victoria) on the 15th, and then, after a few days off heading interstate into NSW
and The ACT and back into Victoria, Wollongong, Canberra , up to my old stomping
grounds in Yackandandah, where you’ve been before?
TW: Well, these are our, all our favourite venues from last year, 'cause we had a
great time at all these places. And, but the one I'm, very excited about is Bellarine
Estate, near Geelong. It is great, I’m face timing all my mates in England who are
getting rained on and we are at the winery here in Australia, drinking cocktails,
watching the sunset go down on a nice, beautiful stage, beautiful PA, and the music’s
alright you know.
FD: I can imagine. I did notice the weather forecast for Scotland the other day, and
I think this week the top temperature was going to be seven degrees Celsius.
TW: Oh, my God! [laughing] I'm glad I'm out here.
FD: Tom, I look forward to meeting you tomorrow night. I've got my tickets for the
Blues Guitar Roadshow at the Warrnambool Lighthouse Theatre. Beautiful venue,
and superb sound.
TW: Yep.
FD: Before I let you go, though, this track, we're going to play another track from
the Live Night Driving album, which is only available at the Gigs you are doing with
Geoff Achison, However Reg also sent me a copy of this track called “Talk Talk”
with Alice Armstrong. Give us a bit of background on “Talk Talk”.
TW: Well, this is a bit of an unreleased cut from an album that I'm working on for,
set to be released later this year in May. But we've done about eight or nine tracks
and, I’ve been so busy over the last 6 months I haven’t had time to get them all
finished for this Australian tour but we thought we better release something quickly
so everyone out here in Australia can hear what we’ve been doing, been playing ,
what the band’s all about and this one (’Talk Talk’) is a particularly special one
because having Alice Armstrong join us, who is just the most phenomenal singer
from England , she’s one of my favourites .
FD: Sounds good. Well, look, we'll also play, ‘Torn Down’ from the “Night Driving”
album, which will be available at the venue tomorrow night?
TW: Yes. Yeah, and it is not, not to be released online, so it's a very limited copy.
