Charlie Barath—Issaquena Getaway—My Dog is Blue

                                         Music

Charlie resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and recorded

this, his second album at the Clarksdale Soundstage in
                                         Clarksdale, Mississippi.

Charlie is on vocals, harmonica, and percussion with
Johnny Burgin and Andrew Sherer on guitars, Mark

Yacovone; keyboards, Mike Law; bass and Danny Banks
    on drums.

‘I Gets Around’, is a richly warming shuffle, an easygoing harmonica meets relaxed
swinging guitars, which continue to ooze rich echoes of T Bone Walker throughout

    the album.

In ‘The Weekend Song’, a rich, swinging guitar and piano underpin a lively enticing,
wheezing harmonica but ‘Waitin’ for the Queen’, is a slow burning, harmonica and
guitar tale, of the art of playing cards.

Ike Turner’s ‘Cuban Getaway’, is a relaxed, rolling rumba with harmonica, piano and

guitar gently interweaving, whilst ‘I Might Fall in Love’, has an alluringly rich guitar
on this loping, slow burning harmonica led shuffle.

In ‘The Best Thing You Can Do’, a jazz rich swinging guitar and piano underpin a
sweet harmonica on this enjoyable shuffle about the benefit of doing good deeds.

‘Brass Monkey’, has compelling wheezy harmonica, low guitar and sweeping brush
work which leads this pleasing, tramping shuffle and ‘Just Wanna Walk With You’,

has a laid back, enticing piano, harmonica and slinky weaving guitar shuffle.

‘That Wasn’t Me’, a splendid, sleepy, rich guitar, lazy harmonica and rolling piano

    blues.

‘Renee’, a splendid, jaunty toe-tapping piano led honky tonk with a stand out
harmonica solo. ‘Can I Have This Dance?’ quite simply, an irresistible floor dusting
rumba. ‘I’m Gonna let You’, a cool funker, with prowling harmonica, slowburning,

grooving Hammond plus, tight, picking guitar.

Stanley Turrentine’s bluesy ‘Sugar’, sees harmonica, guitar and piano entertainingly
flex their respective muscles. ‘Shari Richards takes lead vocals on the footapping,

gently swinging guitar rich ‘Honey I Got No Money’, with a splendid harmonica solo.

    Highly recommended!
