Editor’s comments. The gremlins got into last month’s publication and erroneously

attributed the following review to Ged Wilson—it was and is by Brian Harman.
Apologies to all! Here it is again!

                                          Alex Lopez—Retro Revival—Maremil Music

Cleveland, Ohio born Alex, has been a Florida resident
since his college days and played keyboards before

turning to the guitar after hearing the music of British
rock bands and guitarists such as Eric Clapton. Jimmy

Page and of course Jimi Hendrix. This, is his eighth album
with his band who are; Steve Roberts on bass and Kana

                                          Leimbach on drums.

Eight of the eleven numbers here, are original Alex

compositions. The opener is ‘One More Time', a ferocious vocal, rugged acoustic and
electric guitars become an emotional storm.

‘Your Lovin', loud, tramping percussion and stark aggressive guitar work heralds,
Alex pronouncing serious mistreatment by his lover.

In ‘When I Sing the Blues', a melancholy guitar, introduces a tale from Alex, of a lost,
hurt filled, lamented love affair. ‘Here I Am', is a strutting, guitar rocking tale, of

someone struggling and falling through the economic holes of life.

‘What the World Needs Now', is an uplifting funky and grooving proudly optimistic

little rocker. On ‘Hey Little Sister', the insistent strutting staccato guitar and pumping
percussion certainly drives this rocker on. ‘Angry', is a very loud and very angry

guitar and percussion-led raucous expression of frustration. It rocks as well.

‘Loving You Gave Me the Blues', this enjoyable little groover recounts just how easily,

love can seriously give you the blues. ‘Name of Love', is a joyful, bouncing and
strutting little shuffle. ‘Black Hole', is a pounding, optimistic guitar laden tale of

unanswered love one which, he so eagerly wants to jump into. ‘Keep on Living', is
a flowing acoustic guitar led paean to a glowing and inspiringly optimistic view of

life and all it has to offer.
